Key Words: Three Step Interview Technique, Students’ Speaking Skill
English is the main foreign language. It is taught to the students of Pre elementry school up to the university. There are four skill tobe masterd for students who studied English. Those are, speaking, reading, writing and listening. But speaking is a major skill in English subject. So, as a lecturer should use a good technique especially in teaching students speaking skill. Three Step Interview Technique that have been used in teaching students apeaking skill at the third semester of TBI A class at STAIN pamekasan. It suggestion for some lecturer to choose one of a good technique that suitable with the students in the classroom.
There are three problems in this study. The first, How the lecturer implement Three Step Interview technique on students speaking skill at the third semester of TBI at STAIN Pamekasan. The second, What are the problems faced by the lecturer in implementing three step interview technique on students speaking skill. And The third, How the lecturer overcome the problems faced by the lecturer in implementing Three Step Interview technique on students speaking skill.
Based on the research problems above, there are three objectives in this study. The first, To know how the lecturer implement Three Step Interview technique on students’ speaking skill. The second, To identify some problems faced by the lecturer in implementing Three Step Interview technique on students’ speaking skill. The third, To know how the lecturer overcome the problems faced by the lecturer in implementing Three Step Interview technique on students’ speaking skill.
In this research used a qualitative approach. It is a descriptive research because it is describe the implementation of three step interview technique on students speakin skill at the third semesetr of TBI at STAIN Pamekasan, The problem faced by the lecturer in implementing this technique, and the solution given by the lecturer in implementing three step interview technique on students speaking skill. To collect the data the researcher use an interview, observation directly and documentation.
In this study, Three step interview technique have been implemented on students speaking skill at the third semester of TBI A class at STAIN pamekasan. from the observation and interview that the researcher done, the researcher can conclude that Three Step interview technique can be continue by some lecturer to teach speaking skill. It encourage the students to speak more and try to give a good idea of their speech.
