The Implementation of Realia in Teaching Speaking at The Ninth Grade of MTs Al- Islamiyah Aeng Panas Sumenep

There are two problems of this research. The first, How does the implement of realia in teaching speaking at the ninth grade of MTs Al- Islamiyah Sumenep?, the second, What are the advantages and disadvantages of using realia in improving students’ speaking ability at MTs Al- Islamiyah Sumenep?. Based on those two research problems, the researcher formulates two purposes of this research. The first, to know and describe the process of teaching using realia at MTs Al- Islamiyah Sumenep, the second, to explain the advantages and disadvantages of using realia in improving students’ speaking ability at MTs Al- Islamiyah Sumenep.
The object of this research is the ninth grade students of MTs Al- Islamiyah Sumenep, because the students in that class have better speaking than other classes. While the data are collected from observation, interview and documentation. This research used qualitative approach where the researcher got the data naturally. Here the researcher conducts the study in natural setting and observe social or human problem. While kind of this research is descriptive research where the researcher tries to describe the research field naturally by observing the research field naturally.
Implementation is the action that must follow any preliminary thinking in order for something to actually happen. In demonstrating the lesson, there are some ways that the teacher needs to do, such introducing the lesson to the students, guide them to speak, and giving feedback for every error they have made. It can help students in improving their speaking ability and the purpose of study can be reached by the students
speaking is an interactive process of constructing meaning that involves producing, receiving and processing information. Speaking English is very different with Indonesian language whether it is from the pattern and the sound. So it is not easy to master English moreover for the beginner. Realia is used by the teacher to introduce a new target language word or phrase. It is also to demonstrate the meaning of the word or phrase so that the teacher does not have to translate it into the students native language. Realia is used by the teacher to stimulate students’ speaking. It is commonly used to teach the beginner because for them, English is something new to be learnt.
Based on the result of this research, teaching and learning process can be more attractive if the teachers are able to use a good teaching method that can motivate students’ learning. So, the teacher is expected to create an atractive classrom so that it can reach the objective of study.
