The Analysis of Students’ Difficulties in Writing Skill at Sixth Grade of MI Miftahul Ulum Waru Pamekasan

Writing is process of generating ideas to communicate with others. Writing
is not only an activity of arranging words into phrases, phrases into sentences, but
also thinking about how to express and organize them into good statements and
paragraphs. In schools, mainly at elementary level the English writing skills of
elementary students are frighteningly poor and unsatisfactory especially in
writing descriptive text. Descriptive writing is kind of writing which explains how
someone or something looks or feels.
In this case, the researcher interested to conduct study related with
students’ difficulties in writing descriptive text at Sixth Grade Of MI Miftahul
Ulum Waru Pamekasan. Then, this research has 2 research focuses that are how
process of students’ writing descriptive text and what students’ difficulties in
writing descriptive text. So that, the objective of this study was to know about
how process of students’ writing descriptive text and what students’ difficulties
in writing descriptive text.
In this study, the researcher used a qualitative approach with descriptive
research. The researcher also used observation, interview and documentation to
collected the data. The data source of this research are the sixth grade students of
MI Miftahul Ulum Waru Pamekasan and students’ writing descriptive text,
journal, book.
The result of this study related with the first research focuses shows that
most all of the students who write descriptive text used 2 process to write their
english descriptive text that are planning and drafting. Their writing also fulfill
language features of descriptive text that are subject which will be described and
use many kinds of adjective but not all students fulfill use a particular noun, use
simple present tense, use detailed noun phrase to describe something in details.
Besides, related with the second research focuses shows that most of the students
who faced difficulties in writing descriptive text such as they do not know
English, besides they also stated that they do not remember and memorize the
vocabulary, another difficulties is they do not know how to construct english
word.
