Analysis of Zarri Bano’s Feminism As Main Character in Qaisra Shahraz’s The Holy Woman Novel

In literature, feminism can be used as a tool to study literary works (both feminist works
and not), literary works as a means to convey gender criticism. Feminism itself equalizes the
playing field between men and woman by ensuring that women have the same opportunity in
life to choose their roles and right as man. We can find the relationship between feminism and
literature in the novel. This research refers to the acts of feminist characters that occur in the
novel “The Holy Woman”.
This research has two research formulation, the first is what are the Zarri Bano’s
feminism as a main character in the Holy Woman Novel and the second is how are the Role
Zarri Bano’s feminism as a main character in the Holy Woman novel. The purpose of each
research formulation is to know the Zarri Bano’s feminism as a main character in the Holy
Woman novel and to describe the Zarri Bano’s feminism as a main character in the Holy
Woman novel based on Kate Millet perspective.
Researcher used a library research to the psychological approach. Data collection
technique used by reserachers are observasion and documentation. To check the Validity of the
data researchers used triangulation.
Based on the result of this researcher, the researcher found that there is a literary
psycilogical feminism character that occurs in the main character in the holy woman novel by
Qaisra Shahraz namely the elements of id, ego, superego and also the researcher found the
character of feminism in the holy woman novel by using the radical theory of feminism
according to Kate Millet perspective. The researcher concludes that Zarri Bano’s character in
the Holy Woman by Qaisra Shahraz is a young woman whi is elegant, intelligent, but has a
arrogant character. She changes character to become a woman who is steadfast in facing her
destiny, Zarri Bano change with her new character, which is to become a muslim woman.
