The Comparative Study on Students’ Vocabulary Learning Outcomes Between The Class With and Without Drilling Method of ArRahman Class at TPQ Asy-Syarifah Years 2022/2023
Key Words: Vocabulary, Drilling Method
In the world of education especially English lessons, this has one of the
most important components that must be mastered namely vocabulary, so that it is
easy to learn English. TPQ Asy-Syarifah is an educational institution that also
takes English subjects. In this institution there are several classes, one of which
researcher took is the Ar-Rahman class. Many of them are not interested or have
difficulty in learning English because of the method used so, students are less
motivated and it can be said that they do not master their vocabulary.
Therefore researcher is interested in conducting the research on the
problem of whether students in class with the drilling method have better
vocabulary learning outcomes than the class without the drilling method of ArRahman class at TPQ Asy-Syarifah. The purpose of this research was to measure
whether students in the class with the drilling method have better vocabulary
learning outcomes than the class without the drilling method of Ar-Rahman class
at TPQ Asy-Syarifah. In this research, researcher used an alternative hypothesis.
Alternative hypothesis stated that students in the class with the drilling method
have better vocabulary learning outcomes than the class without the drilling
method of Ar-Rahman class at TPQ Asy-Syarifah.
This reserach used an intact-group comparison design, which compared
students in class with and the class without the drilling method as the independent
variable and vocabulary learning outcomes as the dependent variable. The
population in this research are student at TPQ Asy-Syarifah and the number was
81 students. The researcher took a cluster random sampling because the group
consisted of a collection of individuals who had the same material but different
treatment with the same teacher. The researcher choose one group namely ArRahman class which had 20 students. So, the total sample is 20 students. The
technique in analyzing the data used is statistical analysis, namely t-test analysis.
The results showed that students in the class with the drilling method had
better vocabulary learning outcomes than the class without the drilling method of
Ar-Rahman class at TPQ Asy-Syarifah. This can be proven by the acquisition t
value (to) which is higher than the t table (tt) at a significant level of 0.05 or 5%
with df:40 in the table.
