Analysis of Theacher's Pedagogic Competence in Teaching English to 5th Grade of MI Husnul Khotimah Aengmerah Batuputih Sumenep

The professionalism of teachers in their work is an obligation for every teacher
in schools, especially in English subject. The performance of teacher can be assessed
from the process and results in learning. The Performance of Teacher is closely related
to teacher competence. Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 14 of 2005 concerning
teachers and lecturers 1 paragraph (10) explains "competence is a set of knowledge,
skills and behaviors that must be possessed, internalized and controlled by teachers or
lecturers in carrying out professional duties". It is means that competence is a basic
characteristic of a person that is related to cause and effect, so that it refers to
effectiveness or high performance in certain jobs or situations. Teacher performance is
the result of work in quality and quantity achieved in carrying out their duties in
accordance with the responsibilities given to them. The most basic performance of
English teachers is the management of English learning process, this is the most basic
to success to make students more optimal in learning English at school. The research
focus in this thesis research are: 1. How the teacher's pedagogic competence in teaching
English at 5th Grade of MI Husnul Khotimah Aengmerah Batuputih Sumenep. 2. What
are the inhibiting factors that affect the pedagogic competence of teachers in teaching
English to 5th grade of MI Husnul Khotimah Aengmerah Batuputih Sumenep. 3. What
are the supporting factors that affect the pedagogic competence of teachers in teaching
English to 5th grade of MI Husnul Khotimah Aengmerah Batuputih Sumenep.
The study involves a qualitative approach. To collect data researchers use
observation methods, structured interviews and documentation. Whereas the data
analysis used is the theory of miller and huberman which are the editors of data, data
presentation and deduction. The study also conducted data verification through
extension of population, diligence in observation and source trundation.
The results of the research on Analysis of Theacher's Pedagogic Competence
in Teaching English to 5th Grade of MI Husnul Khotimah Aengmerah Batuputih
Sumenep are quite good. Judging from the implementation of English learning 90
minutes times allcation. And has three stages, namely: opening, core activities and
closing. And has four teacher pedagogic competencies, namely: understanding the
characteristics of students, designing the implementation of learning, developing
student abilities and evaluating of learning. Inhibiting factors namely Lacks discipline
between teachers or students and the differences of the students characters. And the
supporting factors, namely recruiting the linear English teachers, adequate facilities
and infrastructure, and good English learning design.
