Students' Perception on The Use of Youtube as Learning Media in learning Speaking at The Ninth Grade of MPN 1 Sampang

Youtube is an application that provides a variety of the most popular
videos on the internet today and is used as a learning medium because it can help
students learn English, especially speaking. Speaking is an activity to convey a
message or information to other people in oral form, this can be practiced using
Youtube media.
In this case, ninth grade students use Youtube as a medium for learning
speaking. So, researcher interested in conducting research related to students'
perceptions of using this application. Then, this study has 2 research focuses,
namely how are students' perceptions of using Youtube as a medium for learning to
speak and what are the factors for students' perceptions of using YouTube as a
medium for learning to speak in class Nine of SMPN 1 Sampang. So, the purpose
of this study is to find out about how students perceive the use of Youtube as a
medium for learning to speak and the perception factors.
In this study, researcher used a qualitative approach with descriptive
research. Ten participants from class IX students of SMPN 1 Sampang took part in
this study. In collecting data, researchers used structural in-depth interviews and
documentation.
Results of interviews and documentation that was conducted shows that
most of the ninth grade students have a positive form of perception which can be
caused by several factors, such as factors that which is in the one who gives the
perception; attitudes, personality, motives, interests, past experiences, and
expectations, of the factors present in the target; novelty, size, background,
closeness, and similarities as well as the factors that exist in the situation; time,
work settings, and social settings. The students use Youtube application as media
for learning English, especially in learning speaking .
