An Analysis of Students’ Problem in Questioning in Teaching Reading at The Fourth Semester of IAIN Madura

Reading is the most useful and important skill for humans. But, students’
grades on reading comprehension is low, because students have difficulty in
understanding the content of the material and students do not have good reading in
reading comprehension. Lack of vocabulary and difficulty to concentrate in reading
comprehension makes students unable to read well. Therefore, this study is intended
to analyze students' problems in reading comprehension through questioning
techniques and also the advantages and disadvantages of students in reading
comprehension using questioning techniques.
There are two research focuses in this research. First, what the students'
problems in reading comprehension through questioning techniques in the fourth
semester at IAIN Madura. Second, what the advantages and disadvantages of
reading comprehension through questioning techniques in the fourth semester at
IAIN Madura.
This study uses a qualitative approach where descriptive as a type of
research. The research subjects were class A and B in the fourth semester at IAIN
Madura. Researchers obtained data from documentation, observation and
interviews.
Based on the research to answer the first research focus was, many students
have low reading comprehension because of the minimal vocabulary they have and
also their low concentration in reading comprehension. Therefore they have
difficulty getting information or knowledge about the contents of the reading. The
second research focus, to use the questioning technique, sometimes they are
embarrassed to use what vocabulary is appropriate for them to use when asking.
However, when they use the asking technique in reading comprehension they will
get new information or knowledge about the content of the reading.
