The Effectiveness of Visualization Strategy in Teaching Reading at Seventh Grade of SMPI Riyadlatul Mubtadiin TlontoAres Waru Pamekasan

Reading is much more than decoding of black marks upon a page: it is a quest
for meaning and one which requires the reader to be an active partisipant. It is a
prerequisite of successful teaching of reading that whenever techniques are taught or
book chosen for children’s use, meaning sholud always be in the foreground.
Learning strategies are ways that a teacher will choose and use to deliver
learning materials that aim to make it easier for learners to receive and understand the
learning materials, which ultimately the learning objectives can be mastered at the
end of the learning activity.Visualization strategy is a strategy that utilizes images to
support students' understanding of reading. This is supported by the opinions of
Harvey and Goudvis who state that visualization refers to our ability to create images
in our minds based on the text we read or the words we are with.
Researchers formulate the problem in this study as follows: is visualization
strategy effective in teaching reading at sevent grade of SMPI Riyadlatul Mubtadiin
TlontoAres Waru Pamekasan.
In this study the researcher used an quasi experimental design and use test and
documentation as the research instrument in order to get the valid data from the
participants.
This study focuses on the differences in student scores before and after the use
of visualization strategies. Therefore, this study uses quantitative research methods,
namely using objective measurements in the form of numbers or values that are used
to test hypotheses. This study uses a quasi-experimental design, where the researcher
only has one sample class. The results of data analysis showed that tcount was higher
than ttable (13.46 > 1.729) using a significant level of 5% (df=19). By looking at the
differences, the use of visualization strategies is effective in teaching reading seventh
grade at Riyadlatul Mubtadiin Islamic Middle School TlontoAres Waru Pamekasan
