The Implementation of comic books media in reading ability at the ninth grade of SMP Nurul Islam Pasanggar Pegantenan Pamekasan

Comic book is a visual media that contains illustrated stories with pictures
and conversations that serve to entertain readers. The comic book itself in English
is often used in reading lessons that are to understand the stories made by the author
using the comic book media.
There are two objectives in this research as an effort to solve a problem. The
first is to find out how teachers implement comic book media in reading ability in
the ninth grade of SMP Nurul Islam Pasanggar Pegantenan Pamekasan. The second
step is to find out the advantages and disadvantages of comic book media in reading
ability in the ninth grade of SMP Nurul Islam Pasanggar Pegantenan Pamekasan.
In this study used qualitative research. and the data is descriptive because it
needs to describe the advantages and disadvantages of comic book media in reading
ability in the ninth grade of SMP Nurul Islam Pasanggar Pegantenan Pamekasan.
So that students can and are able to overcome these shortcomings, the teacher must
overcome these problems by paying attention to the media used and the abilities of
each student.
The results of this study found that students' difficulties occurred from several
factors, including the most common of which students felt bored with media
facilities that depended on guide books. And in the end, it was successful, by
proving it using media that was rarely used, namely comic books for students to
read. Before understanding comic book media and how to apply it, they finally
began to understand according to their respective conditions. In accordance with
the teacher's suggestion to increase the learning potential of these students or by
providing new methods and facilitating them with learning media that makes them
not feel bored.
