, The Analysis of Language Style on People Speaking in Ome TV Based on Martin Joos Perspective

This thesis discusses the analysis of language style on people speaking in
Ome TV based on Martin Joos perspective. This study aims to find out the language
style in Ome TV users use to speak in the application. Language is a basic of human
communication that is easy to understand by other people. Language style is kind
of language variety in which the speaker selects certain linguistic froms rather than
other that certain the same information. To learn about kind of style of language,
Ome TV can be used as a media. Ome TV is a social media that someone use to
learn new language from the other people in other country.
The research focus of this research is what kinds of language style on Ome
TV users speaking skill? What are the functions of the Ome TV users in language
style?
In this research, the researcher used qualitative as the approach of the
research and qualitative descriptive as design of research. The data source of this
research is Ome TV users. In collecting the data, the researcher uses two procedures,
those are listening comprehension taking note method and documentation. In this
research, researcher use listening comprehention taking note method in collecting
the data because the researcher can analysis what language style they use for each
speaker (Ome TV users), so as to make it easier for the researcher to make
comparisons of the data between participants. For getting the data, the researcher
used triangulation of technique.
After conducting the research, the researcher found that almost all of the
users have same language style. It is on casual language style. Many speaker using
casual language style because they just want to speak random topic and almost all
of them did not have serious topic to talk. Some of them will use formal language
style to give some serious information about our mental healt or something.
The suggestion for someone or any student to have a habit you can use this
application to speak with native speaker and the point is if you learn speaking using
this application is you will know that your accent in English and you can imitate
them to speak like native speaker
