The Students Responses On The Use Of Outdoor Learning In Teaching English At The Second Grade Student Of Smk Negeri 1 Tlankan

Outdoor learning is a way of teaching where the teacher invites students to learn
outside the classroom to directly experience real phenomena from the
environment and take advantage of what is available in nature as a learning
resource. Indoor learning that is rigid and too formal is also the reason for the
development of the concept of outdoor learning. The role of the teacher here is as
a motivator, meaning that the teacher is a mentor so that students learn to be
active, creative and familiar with the environment.
The purpose of this study was to find out how the use of the Outdoor Learning
approach in learning English for second grade students of SMK Negeri 1
Tlanakan and how students responded to the application of outdoor learning to
their English skills.
The type of approach used by researchers in this study is an approach with a
descriptive type of research. Researchers obtained data through observation,
interviews and documentation. While the research informants are second grade
students at SMK Negeri 1 Tlanakan.
This study found that students' responses to learning English using outdoor
learning were very positive. The interest of students of two SMK Negeri 1
Tlanakan in English subjects is very low, but English teachers use outdoor
learning as a way of teaching, it makes students more enthusiastic in learning, not
boring, makes students' thinking power more developed, learning atmosphere
more comfortable, students are more daring to express opinions and make
students more active in learning English. This is in students at the time of the
research, which proves that the application of Outdoor Learning Strategies is
found in learning to contribute to students being more effective in teaching
English, especially English.
Based on the research findings and discussion, the researcher suggests that the
Outdoor Learning Strategy is able to increase the interest of Tlanakan 1 Public
Vocational High School students in learning English and the researcher concludes
that using the Outdoor Learning Strategy is an effective and an interesting strategy
in the teaching and learning process, especially in teaching English
