Students’ difficulties in translating is an error process that occurs to
students’ in transferring a meaning, idea, or message from one language to
another language. Reading is an activity to get meaning or information through
written reading. In translating reading text, students’ still face difficulties as like
they do not know how to translate properly and correctly, and do not understand
the vocabulary contained in reading text. In this case, the researcher wants to
know the Students’ difficulties in translating English reading texts in English
subject in V grade of MI Nurul Jihad Sanalaok Waru Pamekasan.
The are three focus research in this study. The first, does students’ face the
difficulties in translating English reading text. The second, what are the students’
difficulties in translating English reading texts in English subject. And the third,
how are the students’ in overcoming the difficulties of translating English reading
text.
The researcher used qualitative approach where descriptive as the type of
this research. Researcher obtained data from observation, interview and
documentation. The subject of this research was the students’ in V grade of MI
Nurul Jihad Sanalaok Waru Pamekasan.
The result of this research, the fifth grade of MI Nurul Jihad Sanalaok
Waru Pamekasan faced difficulties in translating English reading texts. The
difficulties are they do not know how to translate reading texts properly and
correctly, confused to the new vocabulary on the text and face difficulty in
translating to the similar vocabulary on the text. And the way students’ overcome
difficulties in translating is word by word translation
