The influence of verbal linguistic intelligence on english speaking skill in second semester students of TBI at IAIN MADURA

The ability to speak is a very important thing that must be possessed by
students. Having this ability is certainly needed by students. Because every time
they want to convey their ideas or thought orally or when they interact with other
students. Moreover, they can develop it by practicing speaking whit the
surrounding environment. Verbal linguistic intelligence is one of the benchmarks
for speaking ability because if students have good verbal linguistic intelligence, it
is possible that their speaking ability are also good. In this case, it can be said that
the influence of verbal linguistic intelligence on English speaking ability is very
close, even both of them must be owned by students so that it is easy to interact
and express all thoughts.
The purpose of thi study was to determine the Influence of verbal
linguistic intelligence on English speaking ability in the second semester students
at IAIN MADURA and the significance of the two variables. The researcher uses
alternative hypothesis on this research. Alternative means there is influence
between both variable. Therefore, if students have good verbal linguistic also have
good in English speaking ability.
The research method used in this research is a quantitative approach while
the type of research uses is corelational. In this study, two variable were used.
Namely verbal linguistic: (variable X) and English speaking ability (variables Y).
The population of this research is econd semester English students of IAIN
MADURA, by selectingclass A as A sample. There are two intrument of this
research, questionnaire for getting numerical data of variable X and speaking test
for getting numerical data for variable Y. In the calculation method of this study,
the researcher uses SPSS to find out the result of the two variables in this
research.
The result of the research were analyze from statistical showed that there
was an influence between verbal linguistic intelligence and English speking
ability of second semester students of IAIN MADURA. It evidenced by
comparing the rxy and rtable. While the rxy= 2.225 and rtable = 0.482. Based on the
result, the significant level of verbal linguistic intelligence and speaking ability is
enough. In order, the null hypotheses is rejected and the alternative hypotheses is
accepted.
