The Teaching of Sentence Pattern (Simple Sentence) Using Children Song at Raudatul Athfal Nurul Huda In Pakandangan Barat Sumenep

Songs play an important role in the development of young kids learning
second language. A testament to this is the frequency with which songs are used
in English language teaching classroom all over the world. Children song is a
group of beautiful words in which there are a message to be conveyed to
individuals who have not reached puberty and presented with a beautiful mpusic
so that they can get the message. Since a song consists of words, it is helpful to
give learning experience for children in learning utterances and sentence pattern
unconsciously.
On the other hand, English for Young Learners (EYL) refers to children’s
learning of English in pre-primary or primary school education, for which English
is not their first language. It includes children whose first language is their
national language of their country, when learning English is as additional
language. Studying sentence pattern means studying any aspect of Sentence as
well as grammatical rule of it, due to sentence pattern is a part of grammar.
Therefore studying sentence pattern become one crucial thing to convey
knowledge from the English language.
This research has three research problem, that are; How the teacher teach
Sentence Pattern (Simple Sentence) using Children song at Raudatul Athfal Nurul
Huda in Pakandangan Barat Sumenep; What the advantages of teaching Sentence
Pattern (Simple Sentence) using Children song at Raudatul Athfal Nurul Huda in
Pakandangan Barat Sumenep are; What the disadvantages of teaching Sentence
Pattern (Simple Sentence) using Children song at Raudatul Athfal Nurul Huda in
Pakandangan Barat Sumenep are.
In this research, the researcher uses qualitative as an approach of this
research and descriptive as kind of the research. The researcher uses three
instruments in collecting the data; observation, interview and documentation. For
analyzing the data, the researcher uses data reduction, data display, and
conclusion. Then the researcher uses triangulation of data source in checking the
validity of data.
The result of this research covered several findings; a) Teaching English
through children songs is one alternative for the children to acquire the foreign
language easily and effectively; b) Children songs can break down barriers among
those who share the rhythm and meaning. c) The students are able to produce
simple sentence correctly based on their knowledge from the children song. d)

Children song could make the students aware of the sentence formulaic
characteristics and memorize them unconsciously. e) The children song was
useful to introduce the pattern of simple sentence to the students. f) The repeated
lyrics in songs allow the children to memorize and learn new words quickly.
The advantages of using children song in the classrooms are; a) Children
song could become a media introduction of new languages, b) Children songs
could improve students’ comprehension about English especially sentence pattern
(simple sentence). It can be seen from the ability of the students in answering the
question by the teacher by using simple sentence correctly. c) Children song gives
good contribution in increasing students’ motivation in learning, and f) Children
song can strengthen memory of students because they repeat the lyric over and
over. g) Using children songs as the activity in teaching English helps the teacher
to build an active and interesting class.
The disadvantages of using children song are; a) Children song only
contains few sentences, so there are only few examples of sentences in the song.
The teacher must use several children song in teaching in order to give the
students as many as simple sentence pattern example. b) The use of children song
can lead the students in the classroom into chaos, because they over excited to the
song activity in the classroom
