The Strategy Used by The Students’ in Learning Speaking Skills Outside The Classroom During Pandemic Era at The Fourth Semester of TBI in IAIN Madura

During pandemic era, process of learning is conducting outside the
classroom via online. There are many types of learning strategies used by the
students’ to improving their English speaking skills by using the internet and smart
phone. The strategies and activities that doing by the students are different based
on their own way of learning strategies.
There are two kind of research focus in this research. The first, the types of
learning strategies are applied by the students in speaking skill outside the
classroom during pandemic era at the fourth semester of TBI in IAIN Madura. The
second, how do the students apply the learning strategies in speaking skill outside
the classroom during pandemic era at the fourth semester of TBI in IAIN Madura.
It aims to identify the types of learning strategies in speaking skill and to describe
ways the students apply the learning strateagies in speaking skil.
The researcher used qualitative approach with descriptive as kind of
research. The researcher collected data from interview and documentation. To
analyze the data, the researcher used data condensation, data display, and
verification. Then the researcher used triangulation technique for checking a
credibility of the data.
The result of this study is there are many types of learning strategies used
by the students in speaking skill namely; direct strategies and indirect strategies.
Direct strategies consist of memory strategies, cognitive strategies, and
compensation strategies. Whereas indirect strategies are metacognitive strategies,
affective strategies, and social strategies.
Based on the result, the application of learning strategies that used to
learning in speaking skills there are some activities carried out to improve students’
speaking skill at the fourth semester of TBI department in IAIN Madura. Every
students be able to have more than one types of learning strategies and also using
the same strategy. However, the application of strategies or activities that used in
the process of learning speaking skills will be different depend with their own ways.
