The Use of Whispering Game in Students’ Listening Skill at Fifth Grade of MI Nurur Rahmah Kaduara Barat Larangan Pamekasan,

Whispering game is a game that the teacher whispers a message or
information to the student, the student whispers the message or information to the
next student whether it reaches the last student or not. Whispering game is game
that convey information in whispering way from one student to another until the
last student in a group. It is very clear that whispering game refers to students’
listening skill. The students must really listen to information conveyed by their
friends in a whisper because if the student hear only one wrong word, then the
next student will continue to make mistakes. Furthermore, the students must pay
attention and focus on the information conveyed from the first student. Therefore,
it is clear that the whispering game is used to make students easy to learn English
especially in listening skill.
There are two research focuses in this study. The first, how is the process
of whispering game in students’ listening skill at fifth grade of MI Nurur Rahmah
Kaduara Barat Larangan Pamekasan. The second, what are the benefits of
whispering game in students’ listening skill at fifth grade of MI Nurur Rahmah
Kaduara Barat Larangan Pamekasan. It aims to describe the process of whispering
game in students’ listening skill and to know the benefits of whispering game in
students’ listening skill.
The researcher used a qualitative approach with a type of descriptive
research. Researcher obtained data from observation, interview, and
documentation. The research informan was the teacher and the students at fifth
grade of MI Nurur Rahmah Kaduara Barat Larangan Pamekasan.
Based on the result of the research, the researcher found that there are ten
steps should be done in the whispering game, these are; The teacher provided a
brief introduction about whispering game, the teacher divided the students into
some groups, the students in groups were arranged in a backward, after the
position of students was as expected the teacher came to the first student and gave
the message that has been made, the student received the message and whispered
it to the second student until the last student, the last student should deliver the
message by writing in the whiteboard, the teacher should correct the message who
delivered by the last student whether true or false, the teacher stimulated the other
student to correct the wrong message, assessment can be done by counting several
levels of errors made by the group, and the group that gets the best score is given
an award by the teacher. The benefits of whispering game these are; Make the
students happy to be in the class, teach the students to be more careful in listening
something, teach the students to be responsive in listening something, the students can learn to communicate orally and correctly, and the students can memorize
vocabulary easily.
Based on the result above, it can be drawn a conclusion that the use of
whispering game in teaching English process is appropiate since it can make the
students encourage and get motivation and the teacher can teach the students in
fifth grade of MI Nurur Rahmah easily. The students also become happy in the
class, they will be spirit and active joining the game. The students are more
careful in listening something because they must focus to the sentence that convey
by their friends.
