The Use of Roundtable Technique in Teaching Writing Descriptive Text at 7th in MTS Miftahul Ulum Rombiya Timur Ganding Sumenep

Keywords: Descriptive Text, Roundtable Technique.
Teacher who has active role in teaching process should master several
method and technique of teaching. Teacher present to the class should be in
different technique with different topic of lesson. So that students enjoy the class
and receive the material easily. Writing lesson become passive participant from
students and make the class silent, it was general belief which implanted in
students mind. This opinion answered by teacher with applying active and
collaborative learning. It could be taken form of roundtable technique which used
to teach writing descriptive text
The focus of this research is on How does the teacher use roundtable
technique in teaching writing descriptive text for the 7th students at MTs Miftahul
Ulum Rombiya Timur Ganding Sumenep and What are the advantages and
disadvantages of teaching writing descriptive text using roundtable technique at
7
th students in MTs Miftahul Ulum Rombiya Timur Ganding Sumenep. The
purpose of this research is to know how the teacher use roundtable technique in
teaching writing descriptive text and to know the advantages and disadvantages of
teaching writing descriptive text using roundtable technique.
This research is conducted to know how teacher uses roundtable technique
in teaching writing descriptive text, the advantages, and disadvantages of teaching
writing descriptive text using roundtable technique. This research uses descriptive
qualitative design. The researcher uses three ways in collecting data namely
observation, interview, and documentation. Meanwhile, the subject of this
research is the teacher and students at 7th in MTs Miftahul Ulum Rombiya Timur
Ganding Sumenep.
The result of the research can be concluded that teacher divide the class
into three group, teacher distributes students’ worksheet, discuss in a group, share
and write the idea, and the last step is students exchange the worksheet for editing.
The advantages are to advance students’ skill particularly writing, increase
students’ confidence, share the idea each other, increase students’ participation,
and increase students’ cooperation in group. The disadvantages are to make
students’ easy to imitate and cheat other students’ idea, lack of grammar and
vocabulary, and spend a lot of time in teaching learning using roundtable
technique
