The Strategies of English Teacher in Teaching Speaking Skill at The Eigth Grade Students in SMPN 2 Pamekasan

Teaching speaking is an important thing that should be present in teaching
foreign languages especially English. For junior high students, learning how to
speak is very recommended by practicing how to speak in English. Speaking is
an integral part of foreign language especially in teaching process where in the
classroom there are many students and teachers will definitely interact in lessons
using English. So, the teacher should choose, understand, and apply the strategies
to the students.
Based on the statement above, there are two research problems focuses on
this research. The first, what the strategies of the teacher use to teach speaking
skill at the eigth grade students in SMPN 2 PAMEKASAN are. And the second,
how the teacher uses the strategies to teach speaking skill at the eigth grade
students in SMPN 2 PAMEKASAN.
In this research, the researcher uses qualitative as an approach of this
research. The researcher uses three instruments in collecting the data;
observation, interview, and documentation. For analyzing the data, the researcher
uses data reduction, data display, and verifying conclusion. Then the researcher
uses triangulation of data source in checking the validity of the data.
The result of this research found by the researcher are: the first, there are two
srategies of teaching speaking used by English teacher in speaking skill during
teaching learning process namely role paly and storytelling. All of the strategies
used by English teacher that have benefits both for the students. The second, in
teaching English at junior high school it also called beginning level and there are
some strategies to prove that the students understand what the materials that the
teacher given.
Based on the result above, it is suggested for the teacher uses the kinds of
startegies in teaching speaking so that the students can understand about the
materials easily. It recommended for English teacher and the student for apply
the strategies to learn about speaking.
