The Study on Online Learning Atmosphere on Speaking Class at the Second Semester of English Department in State Islamic Institute (IAIN Madura)

Online learning is distance or home learning. All students do activities
learn to teach like in classes at their own home. This way to determine the
coronavirus that is affecting the world's population including Indonesia. Not only
in Indonesia, but some parts of the world also apply this distance learning. The
comfort of learning must remain observed even though learning at home.
Therefore, the atmosphere in the classroom is also important in the reversal of the
learning process.
In this research, the researcher has two formulations. First, how is the
online learning atmosphere in speaking class at the second semester of State
Islamic Institute Madura (IAIN Madura)? And the second, what kind of
atmosphere is expected by the second by the student on speaking class in the
second semester of State Islamic Institute Madura (IAIN Madura)? The purpose
of this research is to know the online learning atmosphere and kind of atmosphere
are expected by the second by the student on speaking class in the second
semester of State Islamic Institute Madura (IAIN Madura)
This study is a qualitative study using descriptive methods of analysis.
Researcher uses the technique of interviewing in obtaining data from
participation, namely in the speaking class of the second-semester student IAIN
Madura, which is the object of this research. In addition to interviews, researcher
also uses documentary images of interviews made online via Whatsapp
applications.
The results of this study show that online learning atmosphere on speaking
class at the second semester of State Islamic Institute Madura (IAIN Madura) is
use riil teachers. Riil teacher does not force the students for doing all the lecturer
wants. Besides that, the online learning atmosphere expected by the student is an
active and fun classroom atmosphere with giving the games or quizzes during the
online class. As has been done by the lecturer in the class, even some of them
want to learn using the Zoom Meeting or Google Meet application. Hopefully this
research can be useful as adding knowledge to the next researcher about this study
with research in teaching learning, as well as for the teacher to conducting the
class especially in Speaking Subject
