the Correlation between Students’ Speaking Fluency and Their Grammar Mastery at Al-Falah English Centre (AFEC) DempoBarat Pasean.

In learning English, there are four English basic skills that must be
studied by the English learners that are: Speaking, listening, reading and
writing. But speaking becomes the crucial one and demand to be mastered
to be able to use language or can speak accurately. Speaking is the
production of words, phrase or sentence becomes an utterance that used to
communicate accurately, to share information, to give an idea, opinion
with people, to interact each other and knowledge to other people. Another
side, to reach the aim of speaking accurately should know how to use the
correct order of the sentence. Therefore, they must be familiarized to the
rules of grammar. Grammar is the rules for forming word that can be put
together to make a sentence.
There are two objective of study in this research, first is to know
the correlational between students’ speaking accuracy and their grammar
mastery at AFEC Dempo-Barat Pasean and the second is to measure how
significance is the correlation between students’ speaking accuracy and
their grammar mastery at AFEC Dempo-Barat Pasean. The researcher has
alternative hypothesis that is there is correlational between students’
speaking accuracy and their grammar mastery at AFEC Dempo-Barat
Pasean.
The research method of this study is using quantitative approach
while the design of this research is correlation design. There are two
variable in this research; students’ grammar mastery is independent
variable (X) and speaking accuracy is dependent variable (Y). the
population is all of the members of AFEC. Because the respondents are
33, so the researcher takes all of the population as sample. So, the
researcher takes all members of AFEC. For the instrument the researcher
used test for Speaking Accuracy and Grammar Mastery.
The result of this research from statistical analysis shows that there
is correlational between students’ speaking accuracy and their grammar
mastery at AFEC Dempo-Barat Pasean. It is proven by comparing the rxy
and rtable. while rxy is 0,413 and rtable is 0,355. So, the result of rxy is higher
than rtable (0,413>0,355). So, the hypothesis is alternative hypothesis is
accepted and null hypothesis is rejected, while the significant level of
students’ speaking accuracy to their grammar mastery is enough. So, there
is correlation students’ speaking accuracy and their grammar mastery.
From this research, the researcher's suggestion is for the chairman
of AFEC. To always improve students' speaking skills by planning and
conducting good programs, for AFEC tutors to be more creative to carry out activities in the learning process so that students are more active and to
member AFEC, always spirit to learn and never give up.
