Using Picture in Teaching English Vocabulary at Fourth Grade of MI. Miftahul Ulum I Tlaga, Blumbungan, Larangan, Pamekasan

Media are tools that can be used by teacher in teaching learning process.
There are many kinds of media that teacher can use in teaching English, the
example is picture. Picture can be used by teacher in teaching English vocabulary.
The teacher can use it by method that can make the students interested in the
class. So that, picture can help teacher in teaching learning process.
There are two problems of this research. The first, is how is the picture
used by teacher in teaching English vocabulary at fourth grade of MI. Miftahul
Ulum I Tlaga, Blumbungan, Larangan, Pamekasan? The second, is what are
advantages and disadvantages of using picture in teaching English vocabulary at
fourth grade of MI Miftahul Ulum I Tlaga, Blumbungan, Larangan, Pamekasan?
While the research objects are 18 students of fourth grade of MI Miftahul Ulum I
Tlaga, Blumbungan, Larangan, Pamekasan. The instruments that are used of this
research in collecting data are observation, interview and documentation. This
research was conducted from 21 July to 30 September 2020.
Researcher found that teacher only used picture, but in giving stimulus
about the lesson that would be learned, the teacher asked or pointed things in the
class like shirt, bag, wall etc. When the teacher used picture in teaching learning
process the students became active and interested in the lerning, so that the
students got easy in understanding the lesson, although there were some students
that active and interested but hard to understand about the lesson.
The results of research are, first the teachershowed the picture in front of
the students at the class, after that the teacher asked all students to guess what the
picture about, the teacher mentioned the vocabulary while showing the pictures
one by one. The second is about the advantages and disadvantages of using
pictures. There are four advantages of using picture, they are, a. The students
become interisted in teaching learning process, b.The students became easy to
understand with the material or lesson that delivered or taught by the teacher in
the class, c. The students became active in teaching learning process at the class,
d. The class become more various, and e.The teacher get easy in making media
and applying picture as media in the class. The disadvantages are using picture in
teaching English vocabulary needed many papers in making the media, and also
using picture in teaching English vocabulary make students be activ in the class,
include captured in the teacher’s question, but that made a situatuion of the class
become crowded and also the teacher needs more energy.
In addition, the researcher expects that the result of this research can be
new additional reference to deepen knowledge using picture as media in teaching
English vocabulary for elementary school especially to English teacher and ii
further researcher, they can find idea as solution to overcome problem related to
this research topic.
