The Effect Of Using Ice Breaking on Students’ Vocabulary Achievement in Learning English at Eight Grade of Mts.Al-Hasan ProppoPamekasan.

In learning or knowing vocabulary, students’ can get new vocabulary by doing that what
they loved, for example playing a game while the studying, singing a song and telling story. That
activity can be an alternative to get any vocabularies that they never get before. Ice breaking is one
activity that used to solve the students boredom in teaching learning process. Vocabulary is one of
important thing in English to be achievement for everyone especially for students.
There are two problems statements in this research. The first one is an effect between
students taught who taught by using ice breaking than those who do not taught by using ice
breaking on vocabulary achievement in learning English. The second one is whether there is a
significant statistically effect between students who taught by using ice breaking and the students
who do not taught by using ice breaking on vocabulary achievement in learning English at
MTS.Al-Hasan Proppo Pamekasan.
This research use quantitative approach to explain the both variables. The researcher use
Experimental design, namely Pre-Experimental design. This research include to One-Group Pretest Post-test Design, because the researcher using pre-test and post-test as instruments to know
the effect of using ice breaking on students vocabulary achievement in learning English. To
analyze the data, the researcher use “t” test.
The result showed that there is an effect of using ice breaking on students’ vocabulary
achievement in learning English at MTS. Al-Hasan ProppoPamekasan and the effect is statistically
significant, the proof is t value is higher than t-table either in 5%, or 1% (5% is 2,034 < 11,466 or
1% is 2,733 < 11,466). It means that the alternative null hypothesis(Ho) is rejected and the
alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. All in all, where the students taught by using ice breaking
have effect their vocabulary achievement.
