THE EFFECTIVENESS OF CARTOON MOVIE MASHA AND THE BEAR ON NARRATIVE WRITING SKILL AT THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS OF STATE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL 1 CAMPLONG

Writing activities are done by people for some aims. Writing is one of the English skills in the written form. Sometimes, writing is considered the most difficult skill in English. Because in the writing the author is not directly faced with the reader, so that there is often misinterpreting the text by the reader that resulted in misunderstanding. The author must have a good idea to express it into written text. Therefore, creative ideas are needed to make it easier in writing. Researchers use cartoon movies as a medium to make students easier in writing narrative text.
There are two problems in this study. The first, do the students at the eighth grade students of state junior high school 1 Camplong who learn narrative using cartoon Masha and the Bear achieve better quality in their writing skill. Second, how significant is the effect of the students’ writing skill using cartoon Masha and the Bear at the eighth grade students of state junior high school 1 Camplong.
In this study, the researcher used quantitative approach. The type of research uses the quasi experimental design. The research instruments used are documentation and test (pre-test and post-test). The population of this research is the eighth grade students of state junior high school 1 Camplong.. The sample of this research is G class which consist of 20 students.
The result showed that there was better achievement quality in writing Narrative text after using Masha and the bear cartoon movie at the eighth grade students of state junior high school 1 Camplong. It is proven by comparing the value of t-value with t-table. The t-test value is higher than t-table. The result of t-test is -9.683, with significant 5% (5% = -9,683> 2.09).
Based on the results above, the English teacher is expected to be more creative in learning writing to make students not feel bored. Students should continue to practice writing to improve their writing skills, especially in writing narrative text.
