TEACHING TONGUE TWISTER TECHNIQUE IN PRONUNCIATION CLASS AT REGULER STUDENTS OF GOLDEN INSTITUTE PARE KEDIRI
ABSTRACT
Nizar Indra Mu’thi, 2019, The Use Tongue Twister in Teaching Pronunciation at Student Regular of Golden Institute Pare Kediri. Thesis, Under Graduate (S1), Tarbiyah Faculty, English Education Department. Key Word: Teaching Pronunciation, Technique, Tongue Twister. Pronunciation is a productive skill because while speaking, the speaker should think and pronounce words correctly using appropriate pronunciation. There are three research problems in this study. The first is how does the teacher use tongue twister in teaching pronunciation at student regular of Golden Institute. The second is what are the factor the teacher use tongue twister in teaching pronunciation at student regular of Golden Institute Pare Kediri. The third is what are the advantages and disadvantages of using tongue twister in teaching pronunciation at student regular of Golden Institute Pare Kediri. This study is to know the way using tongue twister used by the teacher in in teaching pronunciation at student regular of Golden Institute Pare Kediri and know the factors of using tongue twister used by the teacher in teaching pronunciation at student regular of Golden Institute Pare Kediri. Also the researcher wants know the advantages and disadvantages of using tongue twister in teaching pronunciation at student regular of Golden Institute Pare Kediri. In this research, the researcher uses qualitative approach. It is descriptive as kind of research in qualitative approach and researcher uses some ways or method to gather the data are interview, observation directly, and documentation. The result of this research there are some steps the use tongue twister in teaching pronunciation at student regular of Golden Institute Pare Kediri are teacher explained material clearly about how to pronounce the word, teacher practices specific sound how to pronounce the sounds correctly, dictate the students before seeing the word, teacher asks students to suggest words that illustrate the various sounds written on whiteboard, teacher reads aloud the words and asks students to listen carefully and repeat after teacher, Teacher reads aloud the words by combining music rap and asks students to listen carefully and identify the words by watching the movement of teachers mouth and tongue, The teacher asked the students imitate and pronounce together using music, teacher asks students to practice pronouncing the sounds by combining music rap, the teacher divides the class into groups to make battle tongue twister rap song, teacher determine the sentence of tongue twister would be pronounced by each group. The factors of the teacher uses tongue twister are students’ difficulties in pronouncing word. The student boredom in learning pronunciation. there are five roles for teacher in teaching English pronunciation are helping the students or the learners perceive sound, help the students to make sound, providing feedback, devising activities, and assessing progress. Based on the result and discussion of the research there are suggestions in using tongue twister technique in teaching pronunciation at Regular Students of Golden Institute are for teacher, for school, and for students.
