Language is a tool of communication, language can be interpreted as a tool to convey something that arises from the mind. The language that has an important role in this country namely English. English is a foreign language in Indonesia and is needed in this globalization era. One aspect that strongly encourages this language is the teaching and learning process. But to be able to understand a meaning in English, there needs to be a translation. Translation is the process of transferring meaning from one language to another. In translating English the Indonesian language can sometimes cause two meanings, it is usually known as ambiguity. Ambiguity it is a symptom that there can be a misunderstanding of meaning due to different grammatical interpretations.
There are two research focuses in the first research. What kinds of the Ambiguities in The Indonesian Translation Text of the Donald Trump's Inauguration Speech in 2017? The second is What are the factors Cause of Ambiguities in Indonesian Translation Text of the Donald Trump's Inauguration Speech in 2017? Whereas the objective of this study is to identify the kinds of the ambiguities and to explain the factors causing in the Indonesian Translation Text of the Donald Trump's Inauguration Speech in 2017.
To conduct this research, The researchers used a library research approach, the kind of research uses is content analysis because the researcher tries to analyze and identify the content of Donald Trump's inauguration speech in 2017. Which the data was obtained from the internet, and then analyzed.
The results showed that there was grammatical ambiguity and lexical ambiguity and also found the factor causes of ambiguity were morphological factors, syntactic factors, and structural factors.
The conclusion of this research, because the researchers analyzed the data in the form of written text. So, only two types of ambiguity can be found, namely grammatical ambiguity and lexical ambiguity, and did not any kind of phonetic ambiguity was found because it is arose due to blend of pronounced sounds or to spoken language.
