THE USE OF SIMPLE PRESENT TENSES AS MEDIA IN TEACHING SPEAKING FLUENCY OF THE ELEVENTH GRADE OF STATE VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL 1 PROPPO PAMEKASAN

Simple Present Tense is a form of time that is used to express an action or activity that takes place or occurs at the present time in a simple form or work done repeatedly, or daily habits, or events or actions that have nothing to do with time. Fluency in speaking is the quality of being fluent and it the intensity or practice, talent, habit and proper speech.Vocabulary is a core component of language proficiency and provide much of the basic for how well learners speak, read, listen, and write.
This thesis explains the effect of simple present tense on the fluency of students' speaking. This research was conducted in the eleventh class of Proppo Pamekasan 1 vocational high school (SMK). There is a main discussion, first, the effect of simple present tense on students' fluency. Second, problems in the use of simple present tense towards students' fluency. Third, how do teachers overcome simple present tense problems in students' fluency.
In this study, researchers used a qualitative approach with a qualitative descriptive research model. Data obtained from the results of observations that are researching to find out how students follow subjects in the classroom, especially subjects about simple present tense. Furthermore, the researcher conducted interviews with students and teachers regarding simple present tense. Then the researcher documented the students and the teacher.
The results in this study by using simple present tense students will be easier to memorize vocabulary and can also improve students' fluency. The problems experienced by students in learning are simple present tense, lack of vocabulary students have, lack of confidence, and also lack of facilities in the classroom. To overcome the problems that occur in the classroom the teacher tells students to be more active in the classroom, must increase vocabulary and also practice inside and outside the classroom.
Based on the result above, it is suggested for the English teacher to select a good media which is suitable with the condition of the students in the next. The teacher also should make the situation of the class is more active in order to students can study well.
