THE STUDY OF THE STUDENTS LISTENING ABILITY THROUGH ENGLISH NEWS AS MEDIA FOR THE SECOND SEMESTER AT TBI IAIN MADURA ACADEMIC YEAR 2018-2019

Listening is the ability to identify and understand what other are saying. Listening is one of important aspects in the second language teaching learning process. Listening is a skill that felt difficult to be mastered, because it needs more attention and concentration to comprehend the sound.
There are two researh focuses in this study the first, how does the lecturer uses English news as media in teaching listening?. The second, how are the students response in using English news as media?. The objective of the study is to analyze how the lecturer uses English news as media and to explain how the students’ response in using English news as media.
In this research the researcher used qualitative approach and descriptive research. To get the data, researcher use procedure of data collection for doing observation, interview, and documentation. Researcher directly came to the phenomenon became non participant in the activities of the class.
The result of this research shows how the lecturer uses English news as media in teaching listening. There are three steps when the lecturer uses English news as media, it is pre-teaching, whislt teaching, and post teaching. The students response in using English news as media. From the interview and observation, most of the students response to English news as media is good, because English news as media helps students in listening skill, to make students more active in the classroom, add new vocabulary, get new knowledge, and interesting when learning listening. They do not fell bored because in the teaching learning process is fun.
