THE BRAIN DOMINANCE ON FEMALE TENTH GRADERS’ ENGLISH ACHIEVEMENT AT MA AT-TAUIQIYAH BLUTO SUMENEP

Human brain is devided into two hemispheres; left and right hemisphere. The brain dominance will lead someone skill based on the dominace they have. the right brain hemisphere functions are processing music, art, performing task that require visual. Meanwhile, the left brain hemisphere functions are processing exact calculculation, analytical matter, grammar/vocabulary.In this case, the researcher believe that people withleft brain hemisphere dominace have a better language skill than people with right brain hemisphere dominance since that the both language centre are found in left hemisphere.
The purpose of this research is to seek whether there is difference in the english achievement between female students with right brain hemisphere dominance and female students with left brain hemisphere dominance. This research composes two problems of study. The first is do female tenth graders with left brain hemisphere dominance have a better English achievement than female tenth graders with right brain hemisphere dominance at MA At-Taufiqiyah?. The next is there any difference in English achievement between female tenth graders with left brain hemisphere dominance and female tenth graders with right brain hemisphere dominance at MA At-Taufiqiyah.
This research is quantitative approach with ex-postfacto research design. There are two variables in this research; brain dominance as independent variable and english achievement as dependent variable. There are 74 female tenth graders of MA At-Taufiqiyah as the population. While, 40 students as the sample which is taken by using purposive sampling technique. The researcher used questionnaire and documentation as the instrument. The obtained data from questionnaire and students’ English score is analyzed using independent t-test formula.
The result of this research shows that there is difference in English achievement between female tenth graders with left brain hemisphere dominance and female tenth graders with right brain hemisphere dominance at MA At-Taufiqiyah. It is proved by the result of statistical analysis that shows 2,6 as the t-value is higher than 2,02 as the t-table in 5% significant level.
