THE EFFECT OF LCD PROJECTOR TO THE STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION AT THIRD SEMESTER OF TBI IAIN MADURA

Language is one of the most important things in communication and it is used as a means of communication. As an international language, English is very important and has many interrelationship with various aspects of life owned by human being. Reading is one of four language skill. it is important skill for student in study English. Media in teaching learning procsess is needed to make the students shorten understand and motivate them in learning reading in English. There are many kinds of media that can use to develop it, one of them is LCD projector.
This research has two research problems. The first, is there any effect of using LCD Projector Media to the student’s reading comprehension at third semester of TBI program in IAIN Madura. the second, how far does statistically significant effect of LCD Projector Media to the student’s reading comprehension at third semester of TBI program in IAIN Madura.
In this study, the researcher use quantitative research design. While kind of research is experimental design. This research has two variables, they are independen variable (LCD Projector media) and dependent variable (students’ reading comprehension). The population of this research is students at TBI third semester of IAIN Madura. While the sample is the student in D class of TBI, namely 35 students. The instrument that used to collect the data deal with pre-test and postest scores is Documentation. while interview is as secondary instrument to get the data about the use of LCD projector as media in teaching reading. this research use statistic method in analyse the data. The obtained data was analyzed by using t-test formula.
The result of the research shows that there was no effect in reading comprehension taught by LCD projector at third semester TBI IAIN Madura. It was proved by the calculation that got from pre-test and post-test values. Based on the calculation, the researcher got to: 1,40 and it is lower than tt: 2,04 with significance 5%. So, it is mean that this experiment research has no effect.
From the result, It sugested for English teacher to be able to make the students learn English more active, especially in reading. the teacher have to use other media to increase the reading comprehension rather than use LCD projector. The student of third semester TBI IAIN Madura, also should study more active to learn English, so that their knowledge can improve, especially in reading comprehension.
