The Effectivenessof Students Question and Answer Drill Technique on Reading Comprehension at Eight Grade Student of MTS Al-Muniri Tentenan Timur Larangan Pamekasan
A. Abstrak
Reading is important skill.Reading will be given as soon as language learners have good ability of listening and speaking, reading can be introduced. Reading lesson may be given in a single class or it. May be added as supplementary work. Whether it is given as a single lesson or a supplementary work, the material of reading must be graded depending on the levels of the language learners. Audio lingual method is a style of teaching used in teaching foreign language. In audio lingual method the teacher wants their students to be able to use the target language communicatively. Audio lingual method uses question and answer drill. This drill gives students practice with answering questions.
The researcher takes this method to motivate the students actively in teaching reading English at the classroom.The problem on this research is “ Do the students taught by using question and answer drill technique have higher achivement in reading than who do not one at eight grade of MTs Al-Muniri Tentenan Timur Larangan Pamekasan?”This research applied quantitative research, in which the data is analyzed by using statistical procedures this research is experimental research that involves variable X as dependent variable (Question and Answer Drill Technique) variable Y as independent variable (Reading Comprehension).
The subject of this research is the students at the eight grade of MTs Al-Muniri Tentenan Timur Larangan Pamekasan. This consist of 40 students A class is a control group in which consists of 20 students and B class is a experimental group in which consists of 20 students too.
The result of this study is have higher achievement in reading comprehension by using question and answer drill technique at eight grade of MTs Al-Muniri Tentenan Timur Larangan Pamekasan. The students in experimental group who get treatments that are taught by using question and answer drill get good result. It is also proven by comparing that t-value 8, 82 > t- table 2,68. In which the alternative hypothesis in this research is accepted.
Based on the result above, it is suggested to educational server is expected to give some benefits to teacher to develop the teaching learning English and to make easily the students in question and answer drill technique.
