STUDENT’S DIFFICULTIES ON WRITING STUDENT NEED MATERIALS ON ENGLISH FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES (ESP) ASSIGNMENT AT THE FIFTH SEMESTER OF TBI STAIN PAMEKASAN

English for Specific Purposes is designed to meet spesific needs of the learners, ESP is an English language teaching approach that has different approaches, perceptions, designs, materials, evaluations and objectives. ESP material refer to the needs of students (students’ needs) it can be concluded that ESP is an approach in learning English that is different from common English. ESP refers to learning English language based on needs of learners in accordance with the field of science and work. Writing student need materials of ESP is difficult to do. ESP is one of subject on fifth semester of TBI. In this subject the lecturer gives assignment to writing student need materials of ESP.
In detail, this study aims to answer two focuses, the difficulties faced by students to write student need material on ESP assignment at fifth semester of TBI STAIN Pamekasan and how student solve their difficulties to write student need materials on ESP assignment at fifth semester of TBI STAIN Pamekasan.
The researcher used the descriptive qualitative. The subject of this research is students of fifth semester. In this case, the researcher collects the data from the interview and documentation. While the researcher interview and documentation, the researcher knew that the students have some difficulties on writing student need material of ESP assignment.
As the result, the researcher concluded the research that most of the students at fifth semester of TBI STAIN Pamekasan difficulties on writing student need materials on ESP assignment because they opinion that the difficult to use appropriate vocabularies or terminologies with student needs, confused to writing appropriate materials with student needs, difficult to compose skills and lack of related references of ESP. The solution done by students in solving difficulties on writing student need materials on ESP assingment include reading books, searching in internet, and sharing with friends of group and consult with lecturer of ESP subject.
From statement above, suggest to the students on writing student need material on ESP assignment to be creative to make the materials that appropriate and pay attention to the student needs.
