Writing is one of activities in the classroom in which the students can transfer information from their mind into written form or give information for the reader. It can help them to express their ideas. In English writing, the students should master in many skills that support the writing it self, such as mastering in grammar, rich of new vocabularies and skillful in arrange the sentence into good paragraph but, many students face difficulties in their writing and make some errors like the grammatical, put punctuation, capitalization and spelling.
There are two problems in this study: First, what are the student's difficulties in understanding writing descriptive paragraph at the eighth grade of MTs Al- Amien Jambu Lenteng Sumenep. Second, how to teacher solves the student's difficulties in understanding writing paragraph at the eighth grade of MTs Al- Amien Jambu Lenteng Sumenep.
In collecting the data the researcher used some of techniques, such as: Observation, Interview and Documentation. The researcher used qualitative approach and the kind of this research descriptive research.
Based on observation and interview, the students found some difficulties in writing especially for descriptive. Although, ju st described the object but they find difficulties because the teacher seldom practice when teachi ng and learning process just instruct them to make a sentence and translate the material into Indonesian. The student's difficulties in writing descriptive like: Grammatical errors, spelling errors, punctuation errors and capitalization errors because the students have little ability in English and limited time to study English.
The teacher makes the solution for the student's problem to study English especially writing descriptive paragraph. The students have limited ability about English so the teacher gives some vocabularies every meeting and practice make a sentence based on the teacher have given. The teacher gives motivation in order that the students interest to study English, and the teacher tried to make an extracurricular like English course. This is done by the teacher because time to teach them was limited. This conducted only twice a month. English course really helped the students studying English especially in writing. In this course the teacher taught them with wide time. So those, the students can share their difficulties in writing because the students have some errors.
