THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SELF-ASSESSMENT TO EVALUATE THE STUDENTS’ PREPARATION IN ENGLISH SUBJECT AT X MIPA 6 OF SMAN 3 PAMEKASAN
Assessment is one of the decisive indicator to know how far the
success or the fail that the teacher and students do in the learning process. Based on
the observation in SMAN 3 Pamekasan. This research is to describe the learning
process which implement self-assessment to feedback in evaluate the students’
preparation.
In this research, the researcher uses qualitative approach. While the kind of
research the researcher uses descriptive research, because it is intended to describe
how the teacher implement the self-assessment to evaluate the students’ preparation
at X MIPA 6.
The result of this research found that there were three steps in implementation
of self-assessment to evaluate the students’ preparation. There are pre-teaching,
whilst-teaching, and post-teaching. By the implementation of self-assessment, the
students who has a good preparation after learning process, they tend to more active
in join the learning process in the class. Self-assessment also can be a feedback for
teacher about the students who has a preparation in their home. Self-assessment can
help teacher in the learning process and also can motivate the students in prepare
their self in their home.
The type of self-assessment that the teacher use to evaluate the students’
preparation is Metacognitive assessment for setting goal the teacher used a
Metacognitive assessment for setting goal to know the progress of the students and
the teacher use this type in a setting goals it is to evaluate the students’ preparation.
Beside that, the implementation of self-assessment to evaluate the students’
preparation, in fact self-assessment can increase the students’ preparation before the
learning process happened, because by the self-assessment can be a feed back for
the students about their progress in prepare the leason. By look at the points in self

assessment, the students can release their strength and the weaknesses in the
learning process, until the students will try to repair their self to be better.
Based on the result of research above, self-assessment is technique that can use
to evaluate the students’ preparation. The students can motivate to do a good
preparation in each home.
