THE ANALYSIS OF MORPHEMES ON RUDYARD KIPPLING’S POEM

Language is as media to interact and communicate to each other. Human is as listener and also speaker that use language in every day. They realize that language consist of some words and sentences. But, sometimes they didn’t know that their words consist of smallest unit or element which call morpheme in morphology. The element in the word almost doesn’t realize because human consider that word they produce by sound or write is only one word. Sometime one word consists of two or more element that composes word with different word class from the root. It can be prefix and suffix that combines with word. Poetry is one art that contains verse in line. Poetry also composed by words that can analyzed using morpheme. So, in this study concerned with analyzing poetry by using morpheme theory.
There are two problems statement in this study. The first one is what are the morphemes in seven poetries by Rudyard Kipling. The second one is how are the morphemes in seven poetries by Rudyard Kipling. Based on research problems, the researcher makes the goals of this study to find out the morphemes on seven poetries by Rudyard Kippling and to analyze it by using morpheme theory.
In the process of composing this study the researcher used Qualitative research and content analysis where researcher ties to find out the type of morpheme in Rudyard Kippling’s Poems and analyze it without using statistical circulation. In this research, the data is collected by doing documentation and data is taken from word on seven poems by Rudyard Kippling.
As the result of the study, the researcher found out that there are five type of morpheme in this research from three hundred and fifty six as the data on Rudyard Kippling’s poems. They are free lexical morpheme, free functional morpheme, bound derivational morpheme, bound inflectional morpheme and morpheme internal change. The researcher also found some words that can’t add affixes, namely morpheme internal change. It is morpheme that modifies theirself to show grammatical function such as plural, past tense and past participle without add prefix and suffix.
Based on the result above, it is suggested for student to know and can analyze word by analyzing morpheme. Because it enriches knowledge about linguistic, especially one part of morphology. And then it is suggested for Collage students who want to make another research about morpheme in different research context and research design.
