TEACHING CONDITIONAL SENTENCE BY USING JEOPARDY REVIEW STRATEGY AT THE ELEVENTH GRADE OF MA ATSARUS SALAFIYAH ORO DALAM SEJATI SAMPANG

Most of students still feel confused in learning grammar especially about
conditional sentence that certainly related with some patterns. However, in
MA Atsarus Salafiyah Oro Dalam Sejati Sampang, especially at the eleventh
grade, the students always feel enjoyable and interesting in learning English.
It because of the English teacher there, really realizes about the students’ need
in learning English especially in learning grammar. One of the grammatical
structure in English is conditional sentence. One of strategy that the teacher
uses is jeopardy review strategy. Jeopardy review strategy is one of strategies
that expected to be able to help students to more enjoyable, more active and
more concentration in learning.
From phenomenon above, the researcher wants to know how the teacher
teach conditional sentence by using jeopardy review strategy, the advantages
and the weaknesses in teaching conditional sentence by using jeopardy
review strategy at the Eleventh Grade of MA Atsarus Salafiyah Oro Dalam
Sejati Sampang.
In this case, the researcher used descriptive qualitative. The researcher
got the data from the interview, observation and documentation. The number
of students at eleventh grade of MA Atsarus Salafiyah Oro Dalam Sejati
Sampang is twenty five students. The data analysis that the researcher used
are data reduction, data display and Conclusion drawing/ verification. To
check the data validity, the researcher used triangulation of source and
triangulation of technique.
The research findings of this research showed when the teacher taught
conditional sentence by using jeopardy review strategy, the students were
enjoyable and interested in learning the lesson. The teacher provided some
statements that consisted of main clause that the teacher read and provided

some statements that consisted of sub-clause that put in the responder card.
While the some advantages of this strategy could help the students more
active, more confidence and help each other. And the weaknesses of it are
teacher got difficulty to prepare some statements and the responder card and
the teacher also felt difficulty in managing the time. The students’ also felt
difficult to be confidence to stand up in front of public.
According to the statement above, the researcher concludes that this
strategy can help the students more active more confidence and more compact
in learning with the other friends. The researcher also suggests that the
English teacher should be more creative in teaching grammar, especially in
conditional sentence. Because the teacher’s role influences the students’
activeness in the class and also become motivation to be spirit and always
interested in learning.
