THE INFLUENCE OF READING ENGLISH COMIC BOOK TO STUDENTS’ ENGLISH WRITING SKILL AT THE EIGHTH GRADE OF MTS. ISLAMIYAH TLANAKAN PAMEKASAN

Comic book is a story book where there are some pictures inside
that very entertain the reader. Comic book is very suitable used as reading
material that interesting for students. With reading comic book, the
students can improve their writing skill, because the students will interest
in reading and they will get many new vocabulary which it will help the
students when do writing.
The problem statements in this study is can reading English comic
book influence to students’ English writing skill at the eighth grade of Mts.
Islamiyah Tlanakan Pamekasan.
In this research the researcher used quantitative approach with preexperimental
design. The population of this research is the total number of
eight grade of Mts. Islamiyah Tlanakan Pamekasan consisting
27students.The researchers used population as sample. Research
instrument that used are pre-test, post-test, and documentation. The
researcher was analyzing by using t test formula.
The result shows, there is an influence of reading English comic
book to the students’ English writing skill at the eighth grade of Mts.
Islamiyah Tlanakan Pamekasan.. This is proven with compare “t” value of
this research with “t” table. The “t” value is 7.09, this value is more than
“t” value of “t” table in level significance 5% and 1% with df=27-1=26,
where in significant level of 5% is 2.06 and in significant level of 1% is
2.78. After the researcher examine the students use pre-test and post-test,
the researcher know if there is differences between before and after
students is given treatment (reading English comic book). It is proven
from the value of post-test higher than pre-test value.
Based on the result above, it is suggested for English teacher to
improve the students’ writing skill, they must use appropriate media to
make students more interest and motivated in writing and to be creative
teacher in teaching learning strategy. And the students should more often
to read the comic books to improve their English writing skill.
