Translation is one of important ways to learn English language that can do though translating the meaning of the text accurately without omitting the content of the source language text. One of the instruments that used to find accurate meaning of translation text is dictionary. Whereas dictionary can provide the accurate meaning of the word and develop translation ability, so the translator will produce the accurate translation in the target language.
There are two problems in this research, namely about, are there any influence of using dictionary on student translation accuracy and how the significance of using dictionary on student translation accuracy in C class of fifth semester on translation class at STAIN Pamekasan academic year 2014-2015. The researcher want to measure the influence of using dictionary on student translation accuracy and to identify the significance of using dictionary on student translation accuracy in C class of fifth semester on translation class at STAIN Pamekasan academic year 2014-2015.
This research uses quantitative approach while the kind of the research which the researcher used is pre experimental research with one group pretest-posttest design where a single group is measured not only after being exposed to treatment but also before. The instruments which are used in conducting the research are test as primary instrument and observation and documentation as the secondary instrument. Data analysis technique that researcher used was statistical analysis; the statistical formula which was used was t-test which is suitable with the research design namely one group pretest-posttest design.
The result of this research shows that there are the effects of using dictionary on student translation accuracy in C class of fifth semester on translation class at STAIN Pamekasan academic year 2014-2015. It is proven from the higher value of the t0 (13.554) than value of tt in significant level of 5% (2,03) and in significant level of 1% (2,72). It also proves that the using dictionary has the significant effect on student translation accuracy in C class of fifth semester on translation class at STAIN Pamekasan academic year 2014-2015.
