In this study the researcher introduces about mnemonic technique in vocabulary learning. While at Madrasah Aliyah Miftahul Qulub Polagan Galis Pamekasan the teacher never use this technique in teaching learning process, so that students fell bored and students at Madrasah Aliyah Miftahul Qulub Polagan Galis Pamekasan had difficulty in learning English especially in vocabulary. So, this research expected to be alternative pathway for English teacher in teaching vocabulary at Senior High School.
In this research there are two problems of study. The first is Do the students taught using mnemonic technique have better than before taught using mnemonic technique in vocabulary achievement at the Tenth Grade of Madrasah Aliyah Miftahul Qulub Polagan Galis Pamekasan. Second, How significance is the use of mnemonic technique to vocabulary achievement at the Tenth Grade of Madrasah Aliyah Miftahul Qulub Polagan Galis Pamekasan.
The population of this research is all of students at Madrasah Aliyah Miftahul Qulub. While the sample of this research is X-B1 class students of Madrasah Aliyah Miftahul Qulub. There are 20 students of Tenth Grade of Madrasah Aliyah Miftahul Qulub. In this research uses quantitative approach, while research design that is used in this research is pre-experimental. Research instruments that used in this study are test an documentation. Test is used to measure students vocabulary achievement. While documentation is used to support and complete the data such as lesson plan, pre-test, post test, photoes, etc.
The result of this research is there is significantly difference between students who taught using mnemonic technique have better than before taught using mnemonic technique in vocabulary learning because the t-value is higher than t-table in significance alpha 5%. The score of t-value in this research is "9,665384 " and the score of t-table is 2,09 in level significance 5% with degree of freedom 19 ("9,665384 " > 2,09). The implication of this research shows that mnemonic technique is effective to help students increase their vocabulary achievement.
