Improving Student’s Speaking Ability Using Buzz Group Technique

The objective of the research is to know whether or not the use of Buzz Group can improve the students’ speaking skill. The research was conducted at MA DARUL ULUM from January to march 2014. The method she uses is a Classroom Action Research. The subject of the researches tenth grade students of MA Darul Ulum in the second semester in Academic year of 2013/2014, consisting of 30 students.
A classroom action research (CAR) is used in this study as the method. Action research is research used to solve a specific classroom or school problem, The researcher uses Michael J. Wallace design of classroom action research will be used.
The researcher concluded that the use of Buzz group improves student’s speaking by participating and joining the learning process and doing the presentation in every step including; (1) teacher modeling; (2) group presentation; and (3) individual presentation. The use of Buzz group enables to the students to improve their speaking. It can be seen from the mean of scores of the test from Cycle I to Cycle II, are also getting better. The mean in cycle one is 64.83 and in cycle II 80,22. Simply, in the teaching of English by using Buzz group can give contribution to improve students’ speaking skill.
It is suggested that the teacher should learn and be creative to find the way of how to teach speaking using effective method that buzz group technique .the teacher also give motivation and explanation about the importance of speaking in English communication or universal communication. For the students, they should be trained or practice to speak individually pair or in group, both inside and outside the classroom. The result of the study can be used as an additional reference or further research with different discussion.
