The Implementation of Request Procedure Strategy on Student’s Reading Comprehension at Eight Grade of SMPN 4 Pamekasan

Reading is an important activity in every language. Reading enables people to find out information from a variety of texts, written or printed information from newspapers, magazines, advertisements, brochures and soon. Good English reading comprehension is really needed to be mastered especially by students to face this global era in which the English is the language that is used. Reading comprehension is taught since the first year of junior high school till the university. It indicates that reading comprehension is important. By this skill students can get more information not only from the school, they also can get information from the English magazine, book, journal or everything written in English.
The study mainly aimed to know the implementation of Request Procedure Strategy on Student’s Reading Comprehension at Eight Grade of SMPN 4 Pamekasan. There are three problem statements in this study. The first one is How does the teacher implement Request Procedure Strategy on Students Reading Comprehension at Eight Grade of SMPN 4 Pamekasan the second is How the student’s responses through request procedure strategy, and the last is what are the difficulties faced by the students in learning reading comprehension using request procedure strategy at SMPN 4 Pamekasan.
This study is qualitative research. While this type of research shows is Descriptive research. The subject of this study is Eight class students of SMPN 4 Pamekasan especially at 8A class which consists of 32 students. Research instrument which are used are observation, interview and documentation. The study took place for eleventh days, from 7th April 2014 until 17th April 2014.
The implementation of request procedure strategy on student’s reading comprehension at eight grade of SMPN 4 Pamekasan showed that the teacher combined the strategy in a group, reading aloud to know the students reading in a good pronounciation, using mixing language, and translation. The teacher only give the instruction and and guiding the students during discussion and while prediction.
The result showed that there are three steps on the teaching and learning process where the Request Procedure Strategy is implemented at SMPN 4 Pamekasan. It is proved by the lesson plan that is used. The student is motivated when the student really feel enjoy because the situation in the classroom more vivid than before and most of the students are active in joining the lesson.
It can be drown a conclusion that request Procedure Strategy is effective strategy to be implemented by the teacher in teaching reading comprehension.
