Key Words: Introverted and Extroverted Students, Writing Skill
Writing belongs to productive skill which is difficult enough for many students specially English students until it needsparticular ways such as training, willingness, and preference to write. It also needs perseverant students to have good writing skill. In learning English specially writing, there are kinds of students that appear different, introverted and extroverted students. Introverted students prefer writing to speaking up whereas extroverted students prefer speaking up to writing. Introverted students like more to studyalone through reading, observing, listening, and writing. Extroverted students, on the other hand, like more to studyin a group through discussion.
Based on the case above, it can be appointed two research problems of this study in which they are: do introverted students at the fifth semester of English Teaching Learning Program of STAIN Pamekasan achieve better writing skill than extroverted students and is there any statistically significant difference between introverted and extroverted students at the fifth semester of English Teaching Learning Program of STAIN Pamekasan in writing skill.
The purpose of this study is to measure writing skill comparison between introverted and extroverted students at the fifth semester of English Teaching Learning Program of STAIN Pamekasan and to analyze statistically significant difference between introverted and extroverted students at the fifth semester of English Teaching Learning Program of STAIN Pamekasan in writing skill.
The population of this study is students at the fifth semester of English Teaching Learning Program of STAIN Pamekasan. In addition, the sample is all the extroverted students and some representative students from introverted students. The number of each group is seventeen students. The instruments used in this research are questionnaire, test, and documentation. Questionnaire is to know and distinguish both kinds of introverted and extroverted students and the test is to measure writing skill of both groups; moreover, documentation is to prove that the researcher has really conducted the study. This research uses quantitative approach in which the research design is ex-post facto or causal comparative. While in analyzing the data, independent t-test is used by the researcher.
The result of this research denoted that introverted students at the fifth semester of English Teaching Learning Program of STAIN Pamekasanachieve better writing skill than extroverted students and also there is statistically significant difference between introverted and extroverted students at the fifth semester of English Teaching Learning Program of STAIN Pamekasan in writing skill in significant level 5%, but there is no statistically significant difference in significant level 1%. The two statements above are proved by t-value score of this research is 2.15; however, 2.04 for t-table in significant level 5% with degree of freedom 30. So, t-value score, 2.15 is higher than t-table score, 2.04 (t-value > t-table or 2.15> 2.04) in significant level 5%, but not in significant level 1% since the value of t-table of significant level 1% is 2.75 (t-value < t-table or 2.15
