Entertainment is one way to make people to be happy and forget their daily activities which are full of works and duties. It is needed for everybody. Movie as one way to get the entertainment which is very eazy to find and don’t spend much Money. There are many kinds of movies in Indonesia. Indonesian must able to understand the plot of the movie of Indonesian’s Movie. But, they dificult to understand western movie. Because we have defferent language. By this problem, western movie must be translated. There are two major types of movie translation: dubbing and subtitling. The researcher just focus on the subtitling of movie. Subtitle is translation of spoken source text of a movie into written target text, and usually at the bottom of the screen.
The phenomenon above makes the researcher wonder to know what method of translation which are used on a movie. Especially, at Twilight Saga Eclipse Movie that also as the subject of this research. Therefore, the research problem is about what kinds of translation methods which are used in the Twilight Saga Eclipse Movie. The objective of this research certaintly wants to find out and knowing the kinds of translation methods which are used on Twilight Saga Eclipse Movie.
In this research, the researcher uses qualitative research method. The instrument used to collect the data was documentation only. The researcher then analyzed the data, in which the researcher explained the data in descriptive explanation. The next step done by the researcher was describing the research result.
The discussion of the research, the translation methods which are usually used by the translator in this twilight Saga Eclipse Movie in the source language emphasis are literal translation, word for word, and faithful translation method. And the most often used is literal translation method. While for the target language emphasis are adaptation translation, free translation, and idiomatic translation method. And the most often used is adaptation translation method.
Finally, based on the data the researcher conclude that the translator often uses literal translation method for source language emphasis. And the translator often uses adaptation translation method for target language emphasis.
