The Correlation of Using Clustering Technique on Students’ Writing Skill at The Eighth Grade of Language Program in MTs Bustanul Ulum Tagangser Laok Waru Pamekasan

English as foreign language is taught to the students from pre elementary school up to university. To master English easily the students need to learn language skills. There are four skills of studying foreign language such as writing, listening, reading and speaking. Writing is the most difficult subject for students to be master. The process approach to writing instruction, the teacher gives students time to write and rewrite. So, writing activities is important to learn in teaching writing. To help students in teaching writing, the teacher should apply a good technique in their teaching. One of techniques that apply at the eighth grade of language program in MTs Bustanul Ulum is clustering technique. It is a good way to change a broad subject into a limited topic and easier to organize a short paragraph. And, it can make students interest and motivate in writing process.
There are two problems in this research. The first is there correlation of clustering technique on students’ writing skill at the eighth grade of Language Program MTs Bustanul Ulum Tagangser Laok Waru Pamekasan. The second is there any statistically significant correlation of clustering technique on students’ writing at the eighth grade of Language Program in MTs Bustanul Ulum Tagangser Laok Waru Pamekasan. This research mainly aimed to know the correlation of using clustering technique on students writing skill and to measure the statistically significant correlation of using clustering technique on students’ writing skill at the eighth grade of Language Program MTs Bustanul Ulum Tagangser Laok Waru Pamekasan.
There are 4 classes at the eighth grade of language program that the total of all of students is 126 students. In this research, the researcher chooses A class consists 25 students as a subject. These research instruments that are used by the researcher are questionnaire (clustering technique) and documentation (students’ writing skill) to collecting data. So, this research applied quantitative approach, in which data are analyzed by statically correlation product moment related to variable X (clustering technique) that got from questionnaire data and variable Y (students’ writing skill) that got from documentation.
So, the conclusion that there is correlation of clustering technique on students’ writing skill at the eighth grade of language program in MTs Bustanul Ulum Waru Pamekasan. It known that by using statistical analysis showed that the value of “rxy“(product moment) is 0, 6880. And consult to the value of “rxy“(product moment) to the value “r” table, that the value of N=25 in level significance 5% is 0,396 and in level significant 1 % is 0,505, the value of “rxy“(product moment) is bigger than the value “r” table. And conduct on the table interpretation of “r” value, that the value of rxy is 0, 6880, it is known that “rxy” value of this research is between intervals 0,600 - 0,800 in sufficient or enough level significance. So hypothesis is accepted that there is correlation of clustering technique on students’ writing skill at the eighth grade of language program in MTs Bustanul Ulum Waru Pamekasan.
