The Correlation of Group Investigation (GI) Method on Students’ Speaking Skill at Eleventh Grade of MA Miftahul Ulum Camplong Sampang

Language is used in language teaching. Teacher uses language to explain material to the students; therefore, the students can understand what the teacher explains. One of ways to explain in language teaching by speaking. Speaking is also so much a part of daily life that we take it for granted.
There are two problem of the study in this research. Firstly,Is there any correlation of using group investigation method on students’ speaking skill at eleventh grade of MA Miftahul Ulum Camplong Sampang. Secondly, how is the correlation between group investigation method on students’ speaking skill at eleventh grade of MA MiftahulUlumCamplongSampang.
Based on the problem of the study, there are two objective of the study in this research, Firstly, to examine the correlation of using group investigation method on students’ speaking skill at the eleventh grade of MA MiftahulUlumCamplongSampang. Secondly, To measure the correlation between group investigation method on students’ speaking skill at eleventh grade of MA MiftahulUlumCamplongSampang.
This research use quantitative research design where the data is analyzed using statistical procedures. This research is correlation research which involeves variable X as as independent variable (group investigation method) and variable Y as dependent variable (students’ speaking skill). The sebject of this rsearch is the students at eleventh grade of MA Miftahul ulum Camplong Sampang which consist of 31 students. The rersearch instruments are questionnaire and documentation.
The result of this research is that there is no correlation between variable X (Independent Variable) and variable Y (Dependent Variable). It is proved by the result of the correlation value that is 0,265 and it is not higher than r table whether in 5% or 1% significance.
Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that there is no correlation of group investigation method on students’ speaking skill. The alternative hypothesis is also rejected. The researcher proposes some suggestion to some educational elements such as headmaster, teacher, students, and also to the next researcher.
