The Using of Newspaper Captions as Media on Students Vocabulary Mastery at the First Grade of MA Al-Falah Tlanakan Pamekasan

Vocabulary is core component of language proficiency and provides much of the basic for how well learners speak, listen, and write. Mastering vocabulary is important in teaching English, the teachers should use a good media especially in teaching students vocabulary mastery. Newspaper caption as media that has been used in teaching students mastery in first grade of MA Al-Falah Tlanakan Pamekasan, it is should suggest for teacher to use one good media that suitable with the students in the classroom.
There are two problems in this research. The first is how does teacher use newspaper captions as media on students vocabulary mastery at the first grade of MA Al-Falah Tlanakan Pamekasan. The second is what is the advantages of newspaper captions as media on students vocabulary mastery at the first grade of MA Al-Falah Tlanakan Pamekasan.
This study is qualitative research. While this type of research is descriptive research. The data was taken from the observation in teaching learning process, interview to the teacher and students and documentation to support the data. The data then analize qualitatively.
The result showed that there are three steps on the teaching and learning process where newspaper captions as media is used at the first grade of MA Al-Falah Tlanakan Pamekasan. It is proved by the lesson plan that is used by the teacher, Besides that, the using of newspaper captions as media on students’ vocabulary run well. The teacher devided students some group to easier students do assignment based on teacher’s instruction related with newspaper captions. They learnt about describe place, thing, and someone, so students can deliver their idea, arrange sentences based on newspaper captions, so, it makes classroom more interest and active. The using of newspaper captions as media makes the students feel easy to express their ideas, accustom the students to speak-up, develop their vocabulary.
It can be drawn a conclusion that the newspaper captions as media on students vocabulary mastery gives advantages for teachers and students and it is suitable to be applied in teaching vocabulary.
