The Problems of Students in Consonants Pronunciation at Sabilillah English Course Sampang

Speaking is one of important elements for everyone who studies English. Speaking skill does not only become an important target in any language, but also in pronouncing. Speaking without good pronunciation will give bad effect to the hearer, it will be misunderstanding between hearer and speaker. Pronunciation is the act, manner or including articulation, stress, and intonation, and result of producing the sounds of speech.
There are two research focuses in this study. Firstly is whether the problems of students in consonants pronunciation at Sabilillah English Course Sampang; Secondly is how the teacher resolves the problems of students in consonants pronunciation at Sabilillah English Course Sampang.
This study is to identify the problems of students in consonants pronunciation at Sabilillah English Course Sampang. And to investigate how does the teacher resolve the problems of students in consonants pronunciation at Sabilillah English Course Sampang.
The researcher chooses to use qualitative descriptive as the method of research. The researcher collects the data by using obsarvation, interview, documentation, and audiovisual. The data is gotten by the students’ problem in their daily activities.
The result of the study shows that the students mostly changes the sound /θ/ into /t/, the sound /ʃ/ into /s/, the sound /z/ into /s/, the sound /f/ into /v/, the sound /v/ into /f/, the sound /k/ into /g/, and the sound /d/ into /t/. Sometime they change the meaning of words and do not change the meaning. So, it is suggested to the students more practice it and active in thier learning process and also daily activities by using good pronunciation especially in consonants. The last, the teachers get the students to be used to practice their pronunciation especially in consonants as often as possible.
