Language includes four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Language exits in two forms, the spoken and the written. Speaking is one of language skills most frequently exposed in communication thus having good speaking ability is claim of targets in learning english language. One problem that many students face in pronuncing English. English pronunciation is designed to help student develop pronunciation skill and overcome problems when speaking english. English pronunciation give student the fundamental understanding of pronunciation.
This research is questioning two problem. The first, How are student difficulties in pronunciation on speaking English and the second, What the strategy to solve the student difficulties in pronuncing english.
So, this research conducted to explain students difficulties in English pronunciation and to explain the teacher to solve students difficulties in English pronunciation.
The researcher used qualitative descriptive as the method of research. Descriptive research studies are designed to obtained information concerning with current status phenomena. Qualitative research is an inquiry approach useful for exploring and understanding a central phenomenon. Qualitative descriptive since several typical characteristics of qualitative design are present in this study. Qualitative research needs descriptive data which are collected in the form of words or picture rather than numbers. The researcher collects the data by using observation, interview, and documentation.
The result, the researcher find students difficulties in English pronunciation such as sound /j/, /k/, /aɪ/, /v/, /θ/, /ʃ/, /ð/ and /ɪ/, the student difficult to delivered this sound and the teacher give good strategy to solve his student difficulties in English pronunciation with give excersice like give some pictures or some things to discribe , or tell story, or make dialogue. The teacher asked to student to tries in front of class one by one to speak English and ask to another student to listen him/her, and another student that listen, give comment or suggestion to her/him. After that the teacher correct student mistake.
