The Effect of Using Free writing Technique on The Seventh Grade Students’ Writing Ability at SMP Negeri 1 Pademawu

Writing is one of important skills which must be taught to junior high school students. However, many students have difficulties in writing. Students cannot write well because they have limited knowledge in English, grammar and vocabulary. Therefore, the teacher should have alternative ways to teach writing. One way to increase their creativity is invite the students to active in direct practice. This research has a purpose to find out the answer from the statement of the problem.
The purpose of this research is to find out whether the students taught by using Free Writing Technique have better writing ability than those who don’t at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Pademawu. and the second is to know the statistically significance difference between students who taught by using Free Writing Technique than those who don’t at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Pademawu on their writing ability.
This research design is the experimental method which uses pretest and posttest. The population is the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Pademawu in the academic years 2013/2014. And the sample of this research is class H and class I which is very important step in conducting a research. The data were taken from the written test. After the students were given the pretest, they were given the treatment for two meeting. Then, the data were analyzed using the t-test method to find out whether or not there is any significant difference between the ability of writing descriptive text of the seventh grade students’ of SMP Negeri 1 Pademawu in the academic years 2013/2014 before and after being taught by using Free Writing Technique.
The result of this research, the researcher uses df 56. Because df 56 there is not in t-table, so, the researcher uses df 60 that closed with df 56. df 60, t-value is higher than t-table either in 5%, or 1 % ( 5%=2,00
