Reading is a way to get information from books, newspaper and from other medias, but some students consider that reading is a boring activity. It is usually depend on the ways of teacher in deliver the material to the students. The teacher used Squad Group Work Strategies to improve students’ reading comprehension. The students are not only require to learn reading material that is presented by the teacher, but they can work together with their friends. So, they can exchange thoughts and give their idea to their friend.
There are two focuses of study in this research. The Firstis How does the teacher implement of Squad Group WorkStrategies in teaching reading comprehension at the seventh grade students of MTsNPartekerPamekasan and The Second, which part of strategies does the students like the implementation of Squad Group Work Strategiesused by the teacher in teaching reading comprehension at the seventh grade students of MTsNPartekerPamekasan
This research is conducted to describe the implementation the Squad Group Work Strategies in teaching reading at the seventh grade students of MTsNPartekerPamekasan, and to describe the part of strategies that the students like in the implementation of Squad Group Work Strategiesused by the teacher in teaching reading comprehension at the seventh grade students of MTsNPartekerPamekasan.
In this research, the researcher uses qualitative approach and the kind of research is descriptive research to give description about The Implementation of Squad Group Work Strategies in the Teaching Reading Comprehension at the Seventh grade students of MTsNPartekerPameksan. In this research, the researcher uses three instruments. They are observation, interview, and documentation. It is to obtain the data needed based on two focuses of study.
The result of this research shows that Squad Group Work Strategieswas success to be implemented in teaching reading especially for the seventh grade students of MTsNPartekerPamekasan. It is based on the steps implementation of Squad Group Work Strategiesin chapter II. The English teacher did it in three meeting, the first meeting on Monday 14th April 2014, the second meeting on Thursday 17th April 2014, and the third meeting on Monday 21st April 2014. The result of research is also proven with the positive students’ responses that showed the students were very interest to the teaching and learning process especially when they share and give their idea with their friends thought the implementation of Squad Group Work Strategies.
Based on the result of the research, Squad Group Work Strategiesis very effective to be implemented in teaching reading. It can make the students more active. It is shown by the part of strategies that the students like through the implementation of SquadGroup Work Strategies.
